Configuring Invite Settings

This feature is specific to Clearvale Enterprise.

As an administrator of a network, you determine how people can join your network. To configure these settings, select Admin>Network Administration.

Scroll down to Joining & Invitations and make the following selections:

  • If you want people to be able to join the network by using a Sign Up Now link on the Network page or by an invitation sent by you, select the first box. You have the option of requiring administrative approval for all membership requests.
  • If you want non-administrators to have the ability to invite people to your network, select Allow non-administrators to invite people to join your network. With this option, administrators do not need to approve memberships. Choose one of the following:
    • You can limit this to just moderators who can invite members
    • Alternatively, you can open it up to most members who can invite people to the network.
  • If you want to include the option of allowing new members to become anonymous on joining a network, select Include Anonymous Member Option when joining.
  • If you want to omit notifications in your activity streams about people joining the network or joining communities in the network, check the Suppress member join activity in streams checkbox.

Before inviting new members, you can customize the appearance and wording of network invitations by selecting Admin>Email:

  • Enter the text that you want to appear as the email header in the Name of your company logo text field. The default value is the name of the network. Specify the color to use for the header and ruling by entering the Hexcode value in the Color of your company logo text field. Alternatively, you can click in the text box for this field to display a color picker where you can enter RGB values or manually select the color. The email branding defined here is used for all network or community invitations, any email notifications, and the daily email digest.
  • Customize the From email address used for your email notifications. Enter the name that you want to appear as the sender in the Friendly String text box. Enter the email address to use in the Sender Email field. If your network members try to reply to the email message, the reply is not sent to the email address that you specified. Your service provider determines the actual “reply to” value.
  • Customize the email notification preferences for all new network participants in the Email Notifications area. Choose the activities that should generate an email notification and then the frequency when email notifications should be delivered. Network participants can customize these settings for themselves by going to their Edit Settings>Follow & Activity Settings page.
  • Customize the appearance and wording of the invitation in the HTML Network Invite field. You can change the font color and size, add images, and add text. The template is used for all invitations, including those sent by network members.
  • In the Plain Text Network Invite field, customize the message as desired. This message is used for invitations sent to people without HTML email.
  • Click Preview to display the HTML version of the network invitation. If you like the way it looks, click Close to close the preview.
  • Click Save to save your changes.

NOTE: Do not alter the information located between the percentage symbols (“%”). The text within the percentage symbols is automatically replaced with your first and last name, the network link, and an optional personalized message when you send the email.
